The message of Jonah is one of hope and salvation for the lost. You have never wandered too far from God for Him not to hear your prayers.
When you do pray and God hears you, the results will be similar to that of Jonah. You will have a testimony to share, a story, and lives will be changed as they listen to you share your experience with God. For some of us, our past will be so evident that people can see the dramatic change. If God can be merciful to you to keep you alive and deliver you from death, imagine the seriousness with which others can hope for mercy if they repented.
Jesus does not point to the miracles in themselves. When He offered the sign of the prophet, He was making reference to His own resurrection from the dead. It would be the only sign that gives hope to believers.
Let us take this sign of hope and share with the world His message of repentance and salvation.
The Pharisees and Sadducees came, and to test Jesus they asked him to show them a sign from heaven. He answered them, “When it is evening, you say, “It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’ And in the morning, “It will be stormy today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times. An evil and adulterous generation asks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.”– Matthew 16:1-4a
